Check Benefits of Creating an
“Ideal Customer Profile”
ICP Post #1:
An ‘ideal customer profile' (ICP), describes your target market as if it was an individual.
This individual is the best match for your packages of specialty services. No matter how big or small your business, developing an ICP is a valuable and essential exercise.
Creating an ‘ideal customer profile' helps you to focus your sales and marketing activities. Otherwise, you'll find yourself wasting time and energy on people who won't purchase your services. The word “ideal” is key. Marketing works best when it's highly focused. Determining your ideal prospect allows you to powerfully connect with your target and provide solutions to their specific problems.
Clarify Your Customer Focus
Clearly identifying your target market helps you to set yourself apart from competitors in your local market. You can focus on a specific segment of the market who will benefit the most from your specialty service packages.
Get to Know Your Market Through Actual Data
An ‘ideal customer profile' sweeps away most assumptions and allows you to really get to know your ideal customer. It incorporates objective data, gathered directly from your target market. An ICP allows you to develop a more factual and data-informed picture of your customers, which you can then use to refine your service packages as well as valuable information for your sales funnel.
Results? - Better Engagement and More Profits!
Creating your ‘ideal customer profile' will lead to increased engagement with your market and more profits. You'll better understand their pain points and needs, allowing you to provide information that engages and builds a lasting relationship. You'll know what service packages to offer and what messaging to use in your marketing.
How to Get Started
Each cleaning service business has its own ‘ideal customer profile'! The first step is to look at your packages of specialty services and figure out who most benefits from the uniqueness. You may have a good idea of this already through feedback from past customers, but to create an ICP, you'll need to approach it more scientifically.
Service businesses create ICPs by conducting market research, which is very easy to do today. There are a wealth of resources available to you that will help you learn about your focused target. On social media alone, you can uncover an abundance of pertinent information. Some market analysis and competitor analysis will help you fill out your profile and provide it with more depth.
Using Your ‘Ideal Customer Profile'
You can put your ICP to use in a variety of ways, from content creation to perfecting your sales funnel. Don't forget to refine your ICP regularly as you get more feedback from your focused target and as the overall market changes.

FYI NOTE:
Use Objective Data as Possible, Not Just Generalized Assumptions!
Data collected in your ICP needs to be based as much as possible on objective feedback from the market itself, not just your assumptions!
You probably already have a gut feeling about who your targeted market is. You can tell some things about them by looking at your services and the problems they solve.
However, you need to research and use as much objective data as much as possible. As you discover more about your market, there will be some surprises along the way.
If it's all based on assumptions, you might easily miss the mark!
