How to Develop Your Own "Ideal Customer Profiles"

Lee Pemberton -eCleanAdvisor - Business Coach

“Ideal Customer Profiles” are the absolute foundation of specialty cleaning services businesses like yours!

This (ICP) concept is based on objective information gathered through feedback from your marketplace, (in addition to your own learned assumptions from your observations)! You need to spend time gathering this data on who benefits the most from using your unique service packages in order to create the most useful customer profiles.

Where can you get this data?

How to Develop Your Own Ideal Customer Profiles
#1 - It Starts With Your Current Customer Base
Start by looking at your current customer information. Focus on the people who buy from you and interact with you the most. These are your biggest  advocates and they're the closest to your ideal customer at this point.

A good place to find out about your strongest business supporters is to check your local social media (Facebook, Google, especially).
Identify the people who engage the most with you and check out their profiles carefully to gather important demographic information. Read their content and comments to find out what's on their mind.

#2 - Local Online Forums and Groups
Time allowing, join local online forums and groups on topics related to your unique cleaning services. On these sites, you can get to know prospects who can benefit from your specialty service packages as well as listen to and participate in conversations where people are asking questions, giving their opinions, and looking for help. ( Again, time allowing)

#3 – Check Out The Local Competition
Another good place to look for information on your target prospects is your competitors. Check them out and see who follows them and buys from them.

Read reviews of their services. You'll not only learn about your market and their tastes, but you can also find out where they're dissatisfied with the competitors services and the ways that you are different.

#4 – Packages of Unique, Specialty Service Processes
In addition to feedback from your marketplace, look closely at what  specialty service packages you are offering, what problems they solve for your marketplace, and how they are unique. With a really clear understanding of your target market's tastes and concerns, along with comparisons of the offerings of your competitors, you should be able to more easily see how your service packages can uniquely meet your customers' "wants as well as needs"'.

#5 - Meeting Your Markets' "Wants" as well as their "Needs"
The key to real success is to meet both the wants as well as the needs of your target market area's. Start with a firm grasp of who your ideal market is and the issues they face, and then you can figure out how to position your unique specialty service packages to show how you can meet those wants and needs.

NOTE FROM LEE -

The single most powerful business tool you can use in this incredibly changed post 'pandemic' era, are your "Ideal Customer Profiles", to guide you in developing you own "Customer-Focused" Marketing System with tactics that fit your very own marketing capabilities!

My years of of having the privilege of working with micro-cleaning businesses like yours has clearly shown me that if you don't feel good about what you are trying to do, you simply won't succeed!

Don't be worried about what others tell you they are doing, just be yourself! Today, more than ever, customers want down to earth, trustworthy persons like you in their homes to help them -
