How to Stand Out in a Changing Market! 7 Mistakes You Must Avoid!
In today's rapidly changing marketplace, your cleaning services business must stand out! Suppose you can make your services unique and communicate this effectively to your preferred consumer? In that case, you could carve out a profitable niche for yourself and even compete with larger companies who have more resources to spend on their marketing.
You can use a number of specialty tactics to achieve this, but there are some major mistakes you absolutely need to avoid!
---------------------------------------------------
Mistake #1 - Avoid using a “Generic UVP”
(This is a short statement that explains what makes you different.)
NOTE: While you may want to appeal to a broad demographic, a generic UVP undermines the whole purpose. **It doesn't work!**
You want to tell customers how “you” uniquely meet their needs.
To do this, you should be as specific as possible. A generic UVP won't tell prospective customers you're the business they're looking for.
Mistake #2 - Not Knowing Your Market (Your ICP)
You will be struggle to differentiate yourself from competitors if you don't know your basic “Ideal Customer Profile”. You must address their pain points and offer solutions that will cut through the competition and reach them.
Take time to research your target market and gain a focused understanding of their pain points and what's most important to them. Develop an “ideal customer profile” with as much data as you can discover about them.
Mistake #3 - Forgetting Customer Feedback!
There's a goldmine of information to help you offer the right solutions and differentiate yourself in your preferred market. You only need to ask for it, but most small cleaning businesses fail to do so.
Create opportunities for communication with your customer base. Run surveys, conduct interviews, and join social media conversations. Base your marketing strategy on what your customers say, not what you assume is true about them!
Mistake #4 - Lack of “After-Purchase” Services
Small cleaning businesses often make the mistake of focusing only on the initial sale and forgetting that their customer quite often needs more from them after the purchase.
Make sure you have a plan for after-purchase services!
This might include additional educational follow-up, or high-value upsells. Follow-up services are how you keep the relationship going and offers a customer experience that meets or exceeds their expectations.
Mistake #5 - Not Specializing
Many small or startup cleaning service businesses worry that narrowing their focus too much means missing out on other opportunities. But the reality is that specialization is a key way to set your unique, specialty cleaning service business apart from others.
Foe example, choose a specialty package of skilled services as your specialty and put your resources into mastering this specialization. This expertise will help you stand out from the competition and grow your business.
Mistake #6 - Losing the Human Touch
Digital tools like email and social media make it easier than ever to build relationships today. But keep in mind that your customers don't buy from “a company.” They buy from you. Don't forget to make the effort to build genuine, human relationships with your customers.
Focus on building an authentic relationship with each customer. Communicate well and regularly. Don't be afraid to be honest, transparent, and vulnerable.
Mistake #7 - Stop Learning (and Growing)
It's challenging to set yourself apart from the competitive marketplace. Things can change quickly. Committing to continuous learning and growth is essential for staying on top of these changes!
