Guide to Build
Your Email List
Better and Faster !
Blog #4c
Building an email list takes some time and effort. Some say it's the hardest
“marketing/management” work a small service business does. But the
benefits are well worth it. It's an excellent way to gather and qualify leads
and build relationships with your subscribers.
While it takes a bit of work, here are some ways to speed it up and grow
your list “better & faster”:
#1 - Make Your Sign-up Forms Stand Out
>>> Create sign-up forms that grab people's attention and be sure to place your forms in prominent spots on your site.
>>> Design the form so it's different from the rest of the page,& surround it with benefit-loaded calls-to-action telling them what they can expect.
>>> Placement is also important for getting people's attention. Put your sign-up form in multiple places on your website. Put it in a sidebar but also at the bottom & add an exit pop-up to catch people before they leave.
#2 – Ask For “Name and Email Address” Only!
>>> Your sign-up form should have just two fields to fill in – name and email address.
>>> Don't ask for anything more than that. This personal information is already a big ask and if you make it harder to sign up, people won't do it.
#3 - Promote Your Email List Everywhere!
>>> In addition to your site, tell people about your email list everywhere
you communicate to your target market.
>>> Advertise it on social media (including your profile), email signature,
marketing materials, and anywhere else people might potentially see it.
#4 - Emphasize the Unique Benefits of Your Email List!
>>> What unique values does your list offer?
Identify these and explain them everywhere you mention your list
>>> Understand your target market well and offer them something
irresistible. Frame it in terms of how your email content will improve
their life.
#5 - Use a “Lead Magnet”
>>> You will entice more potential subscribers to sign up by using a free,
valuable lead magnet.
>>> A lead magnet can be a useful piece of educational content such as an
“eBook” that a potential subscriber can receive free in exchange for their
name and email address. The ‘educational lead magnet' should also give
subscribers a taste of the value they can expect from your list.
#6 - Tell People Offline as Well!
>>> Don't forget to tell potential subscribers that you meet offline about
your list as well.
>>> The more touches you have with them, the more they'll engage with
you on your list and elsewhere. Be sure to connect with them on social
media & subscribe to your Facebook pages as well.
>>> If you have an offline location, (as more and more do in this changing era
of loose rugs and drop off furnishings)! Advertise and tell customers personally
That includes offline marketing materials as well as online.
#7 - Monitor Your Email Marketing Results Closely!
>>> Keep track of where the bulk of your new subscribers are coming from!
For example, if you find that your Facebook page is drawing more traffic,
(as many are) focus your efforts there. You may also try other social media
sites to see if you get similar results.
>>> On the other hand, if you that find that some marketing channels aren't
sending new subscribers, drop them and try another.
This is how you discover what works best for your market.
