Warning! Wrong Cushion Placement Can Create a Claim!
Cleaners who are conscientious about all the things that they must do before cleaning, such as protecting the floor and surrounding areas, as well as testing and inspection, often overlook equally important steps that must be done AFTER cleaning!
These critical "post cleaning steps" not only will create increased customer satisfaction, they may also protect your from an expensive claim!
Important Post Cleaning Steps Include:
- Inspection of the job for areas that might have been missed, as well as possible remaining spots that should be treated again, if safe.
- Final touch up with clean, absorbent towels to remove all possible moisture and residual soil
- The use of fans to accelerate drying.
- Proper cushion placement.
An example of why the proper placement of cushions is critical can be seen by in the following picture:
The cleaner who submitted these pictures placed a freshly cleaned (and still damp) cushion back onto the platform when the job was complete. By doing so, this allowed unstable dye from the platform/deck of the sofa to bleed onto the cushion. The resulting stain was corrected only with time consuming processes that also left a measure of texture damage.
This issue could have been avoided if the cushion was placed on a protective covering, and allowed to dry before being placed back onto the deck. Multiple cushions can be leaned together in an "A frame" configuration, with a piece of waterproof paper (like freezer wrap) between them where they touch. This allows airflow to dry them evenly.
No matter how much nicer the job seems to look with the cushions in place after cleaning, never put damp cushions back onto a damp platform after cleaning, and advise your customers not to replace them until they are completely dry.
