SOME INTERNET ADVERTISING REALITY...

Lee Pemberton

This is a question I am asked over & over - "Do I really need a Web site?"

Here is as honest an answer as I personally can give you at this point . . . Yes, but be aware of these current facts:

Fact #1
In my opinion, the Internet is not yet meeting its potential for delivering really good locally oriented information. Often, the information that our customers seek really is available on the Internet, but the tools to easily locate it are still inadequate.

Also, (again my opinion), the Internet has not yet developed the easy access needed to replace traditional paper delivery methods we are using such as the printed Yellow Pages & newspapers. However, it is improving by leaps & bounds.

Fact #2
The Internet Yellow Pages, which are currently the main source of local information on the Internet for consumers, are generally reliable, but they are also very shallow, slow to change, (contain old & incorrect data), and both costly and unreliable to advertise in. Dealing with and depending on their promises is still like trusting your highway used car salesman to help you. Plus, like it or not, their primary data sources are still taken from the printed telephone directories.

Even with these two concerns in mind, my answer still is - "Yes you absolutely need a Web site!"

My reason for the answer that I just shared with you is to eliminate "unrealistic expectations". Your Web Site is a tool, not a miracle worker. If you set it up & forget it - I can absolutely promise that it won't work for you..On the other hand, just the most basic attention supplied by you will make the most humble web site a low cost success for you.
