New Surfaces Mean New Services!
In the last 20 years,
sales of installed carpeting
have dropped to well under 50% of the total
of all floor covering sales!
************
Not many years ago, a cleaner could own a carpet cleaning machine with a tool for carpet and a tool for upholstery cleaning, and carry a few products for cleaning each type of textile, as well as protector and deodorizer, and that would be about all they needed to be busy day in and day out throughout the year.
Fast Forward To Today . . .
Today, if a cleaner chooses to be strictly a “carpet and upholstery cleaning specialist”, he may find his market to be steadily shrinking.
FACT:
In the last 15 years, installed carpet sales have dropped to just under 50% of the total of all floor covering sales! That means, of course, if you only clean wall to wall carpet (and not rugs), less than half of the floor covering sold may be available for you to clean
But there is 'GOOD NEWS'! . . .
The other floor covering surfaces currently being sold are not only relatively easy for you (as a cleaning professional) to clean, but are also being cleaned at prices that are higher (and more profitable) than carpet cleaning prices.
What Surfaces Should You Service?
You can clean all the remaining surfaces, which range from natural stone, vinyl tile ,('LVT' - luxury vinyl tile) or ('LVP' - luxury vinyl plank) as well as hardwood, and ceramic tile. Half of these surfaces are both easy for you to clean, but challenging for your customer to clean.
These are:
Hardwood Floors: Hardwood floors may seem easy to clean, but most household cleaners will leave a soil attracting mess. You can clean and restore the finish to such floors with uncomplicated, affordable professional equipment and high performance wood floor finish.
Ceramic Tile Floors: Ceramic is easy to clean - grout not so much! Once your customer becomes frustrated with the poor results they get when trying to get their grout clean, a fast and simple demonstration from you will convince most any of your customers to have their floors cleaned by you. The attachments needed for this service are easy to use and inexpensive to purchase. If you are using truck mount equipment, its very likely that they will work well with your existing equipment.
Another type of floor not included in floor covering sales is concrete. From large commercial establishments to your customers' garage floors, there is a large volume of concrete floors in your marketplace that needs better cleaning than a “mop and bucket” or a pressure washer can provide. You can make these floors look
Now is the time to look at where your business stands, and what your revenues are in “textile (carpet and upholstery) cleaning”, versus hard surface. For less than $2000.00 for each equipment and accessory package (wood floor care or ceramic floor care) you can greatly expand your business, and grab a larger portion of the floor care market while your competition continues to suffer from a dwindling “soft floor” market.
