From Open to Action,  “Engagement” is The Lifeblood of Email Marketing!

by Lee Pemberton - eCleanAdvisor Business Coach
                             Blog Post #4:

“Engagement” is the lifeblood of your email marketing campaign!
Here's a more detailed breakdown of “engagement.”

“When reading, engagement refers to the active participation and emotional
connection that your email reader has with the supplied reading material, leading
       to a deeper understanding”.

An “engaged subscriber” responds to & interacts with your email messages.
These are the subscribers who read and benefit from your content. They're the most
likely to both buy from you and stay tuned in over the long term.

Your #1 goal in email marketing should be to focus on engagement.
Following are the key strategies for achieving that.

  From Open to Action, &##xd;&##xa;“Engagement” is The Lifeblood &##xd;&##xa;of Email Marketing&##x21;
    #1 - Understand Your Subscriber
To tailor email content to your subscriber, you must know as much about them as possible. You should know your reader's demographics, psychographics, and buying behaviors. Spend time getting to know their pain points and problems so you can offer valuable information that speaks to these issues.

     #2 - Segment Your List!
You can better engage your list by segmenting your subscribers.
     >>> If you create segments based on demographics, interests, or buying behaviors, you can send just the right content and offers for that segment.
Your emails will then be far more relevant!

      >>> For example, you might create content for people with specific interests in a
             particular topic.
      >>> Or, you might want to create an onboarding sequence for new sign-ups.
      >>> Another idea is to split buyers from non-buyers and then treat the buyers to
special deals based on their purchases.

#3 - Master the Subject Line!
The subject line is one of the key factors to whether people open an email!
     >>> Your subject line needs to speak to the subscriber's needs.
     >>> It should be personalized and evoke emotions.
Adding a touch of mystery to pique curiosity can make subscribers want to open
            messages and learn more.
NOTE: There are many ways to write a subject line, so try different things and test to
see which works best for your audience.

#4 - Timing Is Very Important!
There's a time and frequency when your subscriber is most receptive.
Figure out when this is and create a calendar for sending your messages.

     >>> For example: Your subscribers might like to see your email on weekday
evenings or weekends when checking their email.
     >>> On the other hand, if your message is buried among others they received
overnight, they may be less likely to open it.

#5 - Connect Everywhere Your Subscribers Visit!
     >>> Connect with your subscribers elsewhere as well.
The more touchpoints you have with them, the more they'll engage with
you on your list and elsewhere.
     >>> Be sure to connect on social media.
Encourage your subscribers to read your blog.
Get them to subscribe to your YouTube or Facebook channel.

#6 - Ask for Subscriber Feedback Continually
     >>> The key to personalizing your email marketing and maximizing engagement
is understanding your subscribers and meeting their needs.
You need to continually gather feedback from them, so you know what's
             working and what isn't.
Then, you can refine your strategy for even better results.
