The Tale of Five Frogs on a Log - a real marketing saga!
Q: Five frogs are on a log. Four decide to jump off. A: Five, because there's a big difference between deciding and doing! Why do so many 1-10 employee carpet or restoration business operators send for the same marketing information packets time after time? (They obviously have received the information before, so why keep requesting more?) Simple. They are like one of the frogs on the log. They "decided" to jump more than once…but never have. Meanwhile, their businesses probably need to grow, yet they are still trying to muster the courage to pull the trigger on something. Anything! Perfection Procrastination So it's also more than likely that more than a few of 1-10 employee carpet or restoration business operators are procrastinators! The key here is the two-letter word "do." It's one thing to talk about it and quite another thing to do it. There's nothing like keeping in regular contact with your customers, and asking for business. Very often, I get calls from our customers who tell me that they've been thinking about promoting their business. In some cases, they've been thinking about promoting for years but they've never actually done anything yet. The fact is, you can never succeed by thinking alone. You must act. As a cleaning professional, your mission is to show people what you can do… then ask them from time to time if they've "got any work." First, make a plan then implement it. Don't be content to sit on the log. Jump! |
