INTRODUCTION
Crayon marks or even globs of melted crayons can be removed
with some patience. However, a misstep can make the color
permanent. Follow the instructions closely, watch the
cautions and be patient!

PRODUCTS NEEDED
|
If there
is more than simply markings, gently scrape off as much as
possible using a
bone spatula or blunt knife. In some cases, applying a
freeze spray or ice will make it easier to scrape off.
STEP 2: Use a
tamping brush and absorbent white
cotton towel. Tamp the spot into the towel. Do
not scrub, especially when cleaning delicate upholstery fabrics.
STEP
4: Allow 2
to 3 minutes dwell time. STEP
5: Extract
with warm water. Do not use hot water. STEP
6: Repeat
steps 2 - 6 as long as improvement is being made. Make
sure all waxy residue is removed before moving to the next step.
STEP
7: If
discoloration remains, apply
StainZone according to label directions.
CAUTION: Heat can set the colors making the stains
permanent. Do not use heat to remove crayon wax. Do
not clean or rinse crayons with hot water.
CONCLUSION Melted crayon can be removed by following the same process
used for for candle wax - place an absorbent towel or Kraft
paper over the spot and a warm iron to melt the wax into the
absorbent material. However, there is much more
pigment in crayons than in candle wax. Too much heat
can bind the pigment permanently to the fibers. The
process described above avoids the heat and the possibility
of setting the stain. If you decide to use the iron and find that some color
remains, try Solvent Clean followed by
Stain Zone.
