WOOD FLOOR CARE OPPORTUNITIES ABOUND
J Pemberton

Its often been said that the problem with the cleaning industry is not a lack of prospects needing cleaning services, its that there are too many service opportunities that make it difficult to know which one a service company should focus on.

Because of the abundance of opportunities available, cleaners have tended to stick to the "tried and true" service mix of carpet and upholstery cleaning, and lately tile and grout cleaning services as well.  In the past few years, however, many cleaning companies have seen a stagnation if not decrease in business. Times like these are when our industry tends to "look around" at other opportunities that were not necessarily as attractive five years ago.

ONE SUCH OPPORTUNITY IS IN HARD WOOD FLOOR CARE.

Cleaning and application of a finish to wood flooring is very easy, and requires less than $2000.00 in total investment. The demand for this service makes it a nice add on service to fit in with a cleaning companies current carpet, upholstery, and tile & grout cleaning programs.

Just a few months ago, we became aware of an additional opportunity that greatly increases the potential of wood care:  Dustless sanding of wood floors. Using the advanced technology made available through Mastercraft; a cleaner can now sand damaged hardwoods without the back breaking effort and often uneven results that come from using a belt sander. With an equipment investment of under $6000.00, wood floors that cannot successfully be cleaned can be sanded and prepared for refinishing, all with a system that recovers the messy dust that makes most people forgo this needed service.
