CEILING CLEANING PROCEDURES
Jim Pemberton

You can clean suspended ceilings without any major investment. Simply follow these simple guidelines:

  1. PREQUALIFY: Ceiling cleaning procedures have little effect on soot, water stains, or rust.

  2. PREPARE: The ceiling cleaning formula will not harm surfaces, but the detergents can leave spots on counter tops, desks, etc. Be sure to cover these surfaces with light drop cloths. Carpet need not be covered, but should be vacuumed afterward.

  3. MIX SOLUTION: Add 3 ounces of A217 Renovate and 2 tablespoons of B155 Oxy Plus to one gallon of very hot water.
    *NOTE:
The Oxy Plus is activated once added to water, and stops working after 30 minutes. Be certain only to mix what you will use in the next 20 minutes.

  4. SPRAY CEILING: Spray the solution onto the ceiling tiles, grids, diffusers, and other fixtures.

AVOID SPRAYING SOLUTION ON SMOKE DETECTORS!

When spraying near walls, have a helper hold the extension pole with a protective shield around the area to avoid spraying the solution onto the painted surfaces. Your solution will not hurt the surface, but will leave clean marks on the dirty wall. The Renovate will loosen the soil, and absorb it into the ceiling tile. The Oxy Plus will bleach out nicotine stains without harming the carpet below.

*NOTE: Freshly sprayed surfaces will look gray and blotchy. The tiles will dry white and bright.

  1. CLEAN NON ABSORBENT SURFACES: Dirty solution will now be dripping from the grids and other non-absorbent surfaces. Wipe these with a damp sponge held in the fixi clamp at the end of your extension pole.

  2. "BALANCE THE ROOM": With your clients permission, relocate stained ceiling tiles to areas that are out of direct light or otherwise less conspicuous, such as corners or areas along the walls.

  3. CLEAN UP: Clean any hard surfaces that may have received over spray. Remove drop cloths. The carpet will have particles of ceiling tile that broke off during "balancing", or from abrasion when sponging off grids. Vacuum the carpet thoroughly to remove this debris.
